Couple to answer rape charges

A Nevis couple resident in the British Virgin Islands will stand trial on November 23, 2009 on charges of rape and perverting the course of justice.

The male is accused of raping the teenage daughter of his girlfriend sometime in 2007. He was arrested for the offence, but the girlfriend subsequently took the child to the United States.

After intense investigation, both the mother and daughter were found and on May 14, 2008. The woman was escorted back to the Territory by US Marshalls to face perverting the course of action and interfering with a prosecution’s witness.

The couple have been living in the BVI for a number of years. They are presently out on bail.

This is a sensitive case and in my humble opinion no posts should be allowed. All we have sinned. I am tired of seeing people slaughtered by the lazy mob who just sit around waiting to prey on those whose sins are revealed.

Raping a female is far worse than stealing a TV. I would beg people not to judge the woman for fleeing with her child. Save the teen humiliation. I know when I was young and this had happened to me I'd've begged my mother to take me somewhere safe where the man can't get out of jail in one month and come back and get me for turning him in. Or to save me from the laughs and the jeers of my schoolmates etc. Don't judge so harshly people. Rape destroys women from the inside out.

How come a guyanese man who was working for delta at baughers bay steal a 52inch tv from chilling cafe and his parent send him back to Guyana and no one lock up the parent!!! It's there on camera lived when he was stealing it. I would like to see something come out of it.It's not right.You know something he need to bring back bobby tv to.

I hope the prosecution have all their ducks lined up and the defence ready to proceed. Only the truth will sort this case out and its only the truth the public should be interested in. This case may well be like many cases around here that are tried in the court of "Public Opinion" and thereby giving credence to bias-ness so to speak. So let's pray and hope that the presecution and defence teams have their witts about them and come to the court to seek the truth!
