Local designers to form networks

Designers from a cross section of disciplines from achitecture to jewelry, discussed the formation of networks at a meeting with an official from the Export Development Unit (EDU) of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

The meeting, which took place at the Marias by the Sea Hotel at 9:00 a.m. this morning, featured an address from Jennifer Julien-Laudat who focused on OECS EDU design initiatives as well as other such intiatives in the region. Following the presentation there was an open discussion and brainstorming session between the local attendees and Julien-Laudat.

The OECS EDU in collaboration with Caribbean Export launched the intiative as part of their vision to establish design networks in all OECS member states thereby enhancing the creation of high-end products in the OECS sub-region.

The meeting was coordinated by the Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs which is mandated to facilitate the development and growth of the BVI business environment, increase competitiveness, and generate higher levels of sustainable growth and productivity.
