Monday, November 30, 2009 - Oyster Publications is pleased to announce the launch of its 2010 edition of the “Business BVI” magazine.
The eagerly awaited annual publication which is now in its fourth year has become somewhat of a must read within the financial services sector, the tourism industry and the wider business community as a vehicle to promote the British Virgin Islands as an attractive jurisdiction for international business and foreign investment.
The 2010 edition takes a close look at the global recession and its effects on the BVI and the wider Caribbean economy. The articles discuss the realities for offshore financial centres in a highly competitive and regulated global economy, the ongoing development and plans for the new hospital, the green revolution and its implications on the BVI and the Caribbean and the outlook for real estate in the new economy. In addition, there is a comprehensive and updated Fast Fact Guide which contains useful information as well as a section entitled “Moving to the BVI” designed to assist persons relocating to the BVI.
For the 2010 Edition a new section has been added; Face Time - profiling leading personalities in the business community in addition to partnering with KPMG and their quarterly Frontiers in Finance Magazine to expose our readers to two very timely and current topical matters; personal branding and the reality of offshore centres. Two must read lead articles include a piece on whether the Caribbean is prepared for when Cuba opens its borders to Americans as well as a timely article by local businessman and Real Estate Developer Colin O’Neal, discussing development in the BVI and the critical need to establish a consensus on this much debated subject.
Portia Harrigan, Editor-in-Chief of the Business BVI, expressed her sincere gratitude to the editorial board comprising of prominent business leaders who provided advice during production of the magazine. “We were privileged to have leaders from the financial services, banking, tourism, real estate, international business and legal sectors as editorial advisors on this project.” she said. “We are also very thankful to our growing list of contributors who
have once again helped us in producing articles which are timely, thought-provoking and forward looking at the challenges facing the business and investment community locally and overseas. We are particularly appreciative of the support of our roster of advertisers. We welcome our first timers and express our unreserved appreciation to those who have been with us from day one. Their collective support makes our 4th edition possible in this difficult
economic climate.”
A minimum of 35,000 copies of Business BVI are distributed both locally and internationally. As we continue to build the international footprint of the magazine, this year we have deepened our partnership with the International Finance Centre to mutually enhance the jurisdiction’s brand in the global marketplace. We will also continue our close association with other Government and Private Sector Partners.
